Bombarded by so many Tweets a day, it’s no wonder that I have to be picky. As I’m going through the never-ending list, I make a mental note of what catches my eye. Surely, if they have been able to capture my attention then they must be doing something right.

Applying those principles do get people to read my Tweets too, here’s what you should do.

Post great articles
If you’ve opened once from a Twitter handle and were disappointed, you’re likely not to open again. Be careful what you post and how you describe it, because we don’t like to be fooled into clicking.

Post your articles
Share your articles but don’t bombard them with your articles. This should be interspersed with sharing other people’s thoughts, while also sharing yours.

Post your news
This should be fairly obvious, but in between promoting your company name and services, you forget to give a shout out to your clients as well. Ours being a PR handle, we make sure we post our clients’ news as soon as it happens.

These are just a few ideas to get you going on Twitter; you can find some more here.

Whatever you do do on Twitter…
How do you get them to click?
